I don’t know, but they should give Everest a rest. The place is a trash dump and open grave yard now.

@Fukfacewillie I agree in principle; although I've always wanted to do it myself.
I did manage (on my 2nd attempt) to do the Abruzzi spur on K2. I've also done Ben Nevis in Scotland & Scafell Pike in Cumbria.

@L33TH4X0R That’s awesome.

@Fukfacewillie Thanks 👍- the cost & time involved with doing everest in comparison is crazy. 60,000+ & about 3mths work.
I did Scafell in 7hrs.

@L33TH4X0R Everest seems more about ego. I get it, but there’s something grotesque about the money, trash, and crowds. Is the beauty worth it?
L33TH4X0R · 41-45, M
@Fukfacewillie I completely agree with you that it's about ego, but in the same breath it should be lol. Not many can do it. For my K2 trip I'd trained for years on local routes / mountains; even then nothing could prepare me adequately. I went in July & in total it took 72 days, there, back & prep.
I think it should be managed a lot better than it currently is.
I remember reading the Everest has been closed for the time being.

@L33TH4X0R What was the major thing you couldn’t be prepared for? Low oxygen?
L33TH4X0R · 41-45, M
@Fukfacewillie That & the stamina; I thought I was fit but it actually took me all I had; I think the oxygen is the main thing, but it's all interconnected.

@L33TH4X0R Must have been incredible!

@Fukfacewillie I can't lie; it was the highlight of my life so far. The first time I tried I failed; a number of reasons; I turned back at the 'Bottleneck' which is an exposed area about 26,000ft; it was caked in thick ice & some of the inclinations were above 60 degrees but felt like 90, frigid temp, high winds, low visibility...I felt it was suicide to continue; statistically Abruzzi is known as the easiest ascent but I can tell you; there is NO easy route. In the back of my mind was the fact that most people die on the bottleneck; that being said it made the successful climb all the more sweeter.
Any experience like that where you push yourself, both mind & body to the limits in order to overcome your limitations & battle mother nature is life changing.
But being honest I don't think I could manage Everest. - I'm planning a trip to Antarctica though as I want to make the pole.

@L33TH4X0R I admire what you’ve accomplished. There is something about enduring such suffering which creates long lasting feelings of satisfaction. Well done!

@Fukfacewillie Have you? Maybe not Everest or K2 but have you pushed yourself? Hiking, climbing, rafting, sailing?
