As one we are a mixed bag...as I'd assume most other countries are...media shows either the best or worst of anybody...but we are all just people in the end

The first foreigners to befriend me whether irl or online were Americans, they went out of their way to help me, friendliest people I’ve met
@SW-User When I visited people in Morocco some of them remarked “the American people are not like the politics”. I think they had a set image in their mind about how Americans would be from watching media and satellite tv shows & movies.
330 million people – difficult to say anything that's true for all of them... 🤭 Anyway the few American people that I know are extremely nice, friendly and helpful. I was in America for half a year, many years ago, and my English was terrible, and they did everything they could to help me. Thank you guys! 🌷
Probably the majority of them fall within the same boundaries of personality that we all do. What we see in the media is usually the far end of either side of the spectrum, from good to bad, because that is what is seen as newsworthy. We all have cultural strengths and weaknesses after all
@HijabaDabbaDoo well I could stereotype people in places where I visited from what I saw out in public but that doesn’t mean everyone is that way does it?
I think they are like people everywhere. They want a good life. They want to raise their children in safety, and they want the guarantees of freedom provided by the Constitution.

The impression I get talking to the online is much better than what I have seen through other media, a lot of them are surprisingly, fun, normal, witty, smart
@SW-User But you know the secret.....Americans secretly wish they were Irish. Irish pubs everywhere, giant Irish parades, Brendan Gleeson in almost every movie, etc. 😁

I think that the majority of Americans are friendly, confident, loud, and proud. And if you would like to disagree then I will tell you that we honestly don't care what you think about us.
That those who like to talk about how much freedom they have as Americans have quite a strange idea of freedom as such. 🤔 From what I gathered on social media...
Americans are people, like everyone else. And some of the nicest, most generous natured people around in a one to one meeting. They are however not served well by their media and in some cases their government. And many being highly patriotic can say the darndest things they believe to be true.
@SW-User propably a country like norway maybe new zealand... indicators like median wealth, income and standard of living. how safe your society is, technological and education standards. health and expectance of life.
basically look at the bottom 20% of a countries society and see how well they do... and you know if a country is great or not.
I think the American people are pretty goddamn normal in the scheme of things, and we only have a reputation because our government and unusually powerful media apparatus thrives on division and exploitation of the working class, which in turn involves smearing regular people to the ends of the Earth. That, and there's a shit ton of us, which statistically leads to a higher total number of extremists and weirdos, and the US is just a tremendously influential country.
We are people just like everyone else. I'm sick of the media portraying us in away that makes it okay for the terminally stupid to bash the country on a whole
SW-User
I don't get why some are Americans, some African American, others Native Americans. Weirdos.
SW-User
@SW-User why is that hard to understand? Weirdo.
SW-User
@SW-User Because it's stupid you weirdos. You're all American.
We're not talking about people with dual citizenship.
not to cast a blanket stereotype... but the vast majority that I have encountered fall into 2 main categories: 1. dumb as doorknobs 2. superficial & lacking any real empathy
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Just want to add a caveat to my original statement. My original comment was not a slight on Americans but on the system they were raised and live in.
I dislike some of them. I like some of them. I really like some of them.
Just like any other nation really. I do prefer it when they aren't starting wars but I can't blame them all for that and theirs isn't the only nation that does it.
