Would you say that a person who prefers to rent rather than own/buy a house isn't financially stable?

Someone told me that I wasn't financially stable because I opt to rent instead of purchase a home. What does that have to do with being financially stable?

My mom has been renting since 2011. She just feels like it's a better option for her personally. I say that whatever you feel is best for you, do it.

@SubstantialKick lol, the ironic thing is: a lot of older people who own homes are selling those homes and using the income to rent.
