There are some days when you simply don't care

One time my brother-in-law had a Rhesus monkey he found while driving down a country road coming home from fishing. He caught it and brought it home and built a cage for it but JoJo got smart enough to be an escape artist. His mother called me up frantic one day saying that JoJo escaped from his cage and went over to the neighbor’s house and came inside, got up in the middle of her kitchen table and was eating the tomatoes she had laying there to get ripe. The woman gathered up her young children and got out of the house leaving the monkey inside & walked a block to the little country store. They knew his mother and called her and she called me and asked me if I knew where he was working & he needed to get home very fast and get the monkey. I didn’t have a car and knew they were working a half-mile up the road and i walked up there and told him. He says “Dammit JoJo got out again”. He left and he ended up building a strong cage with big poles in his mother’s front yard so she could keep an eye on him.
