A homeless man who showed me around Portland years ago. He gave up on everything after his wife divorced him; just packed up and started hitchhiking around the country. He knew where to get food donations around the city. He helped me find a cheap place to stay. We talked about his life a bit. It interested me anyway. Maybe that was the first time I’d encountered someone outside the norm who was happy with being outside of it.
