It is because people are simultaneously craving more and more attention but becoming more and more stupid. They need the hedonistic dopamine from attention but they can’t create enough creative thoughts to keep up with the demand for attention.
I spent years learning the piano classically, and I actually read - science, philosophy etc so when I need attention I either post a piano video or ask a serious and scientific question.
But look at society nowadays in particular social media. It’s either skinny half dressed girls, or fat girls trying to pretend being fat is a virtue that get all the attention. Whilst philosophical discussions would get a lot less attention. We have a really hedonistic dumbed down society who also wants to pretend it’s enlightened.
Every time you see a ‘comedian’ on YouTube, they always use this sarcastic tone, so then when someone inevitably points out that they aren’t funny they can say ‘clearly I wasn’t being serious, why are you ‘triggered’?’ When you watch a game streamer talk whilst they play, you can tell from the first second how contrived their apparent level of excitation is. And then the large number of people who cannot post anything without either swearing or trying to talk gangster, which is clearly done either to do the ‘im not actually serious’ thing I detailed, or to be passive aggressive to deter criticism. And I mean CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. when someone says ‘screw the haters’ it means ‘I want to display a talent, skill or idea but I don’t want to put more than five mins of effort into it, so when someone gives me constructive criticism for me to improve, which takes effort, I’ll call them a hater. If someone disagrees with your opinion, similarly call them a ‘troll’ whilst simultaneously acting more like a troll than your target.
And if all all fails, blame it on capitalism/patriarchy/racism
