Democrats, you can't ban someone from holding office just because you disagree with their politics. That's what elections are for.

You can thank the founding fathers for setting the impeachment and removal that’s meant to ban Presidents who commit impeachable offenses from holding office again.

@LoveTriumphsOverHate Inciting a riot is a high crime. That’s why he got impeached. And if the GOP weren’t so afraid of backlash from the the batshit members who occupy the Republican party, he would have been convicted.
That I’m aware of Trump told them to go to the capitol. He could have meant anything by that. @SW-User

@Spoiledbrat And I’m aware he told them they’ll walk down to the Capitol and he would walk there with them.
Walking to the capitol allowed. @SW-User
@SW-User And what the Founders did was based upon the nastiness they had seen in England.
@Spoiledbrat Yes, walking is. Attacking it, police/other security people, breaking in, disrupting the government, gping with arms & bombs and the intent to kill people, stealing, destroying our shared property...

This wasn't just a walk, and anyone who saw it happening in real time can tell you that.
But he didn’t say what to do. He said go there, I’m assuming to peacefully protest. I saw it and I don’t disagree that it was an attack. Just that the president at the time just said to go there. @SomeMichGuy

@SomeMichGuy he didn’t even send in the National Guard asap once it became clear that they were breaking into the Capitol, attacking officers in the process, and searching for lawmakers to kill. He riled them up for that moment, he wanted them to walk down to the capitol and storm it.
@Spoiledbrat You have to listen to the entire speech in context.

All speakers.
What Trump said in the years, months, and esp. post-election time leading up to it.

The interpretation that he "just" asked them to walk there is disingenuous.

They were not just carrying signs. And they had pretty blatantly planned to do harm.

Feel free to vote for & support Fascists if you desire, but don't claim such vast ignorance that you will use the hair-breadth of wording which supports that interpretation to try to hide from the mountain of statements to the contrary.

Just be honest: if you like Trump, you like Fascism and you don't want democracy. It's ok to have that opinion, but just be clear and honest and open about it.

If you don't want Fascism and you do want democracy, then you need to rethink supporting Trump.

Because the Republicans refuse to separate from Trump, I find them to have no moral, ethical, or any other authority. I will never vote for a Republican ever again for any office above...well, my local Township, perhaps. But never for any office at the State or National level. They have turned their backs on democracy and I shun them.
I’m not talking about what the citizens did. I already said that. I’m talking about what president Trump said. 🙁 I said that too. @SomeMichGuy
@Spoiledbrat They are connected (what the people did and what he said).

And, as I said, Trump did not merely say "take a walk",but you would know that if you had either watched his entire speech or read a transcript of it.

If you missed the very excellent recap of the second impeachment trial, it is worth reviewing.

But, come on. If you had a group of angry ppl at your door, followers hanging on your every word, with pitchforks & torches and you told them to go to the castle, what do you think might happen?
