No evidence that homosexuality exists in mammalian species in the conscious preference for mating with the same sex if the opposite sex is available.
But as, in most of the animal kingdom, the majority of males won't successfully mate, then we do observer males copulating with each other. But if a female in season walks by, they will fight to the death to impregnate her.

@CarolineP Humans are a mammalian species.

@CarolineP Male/female mating or homosexuality is what I am talking about ,_,
MarijuanaAbuser · 26-30, M
@Ynotisay Only reason I say this is because I believe a male cat that my mom owns is a homosexual ,_, He's never mated with a female but tried with males
Ynotisay · M
@MarijuanaAbuser Animals doing that can have different meanings. It's not about a sexual proclivity. Cats, like dogs, can mount to show dominance.
MarijuanaAbuser · 26-30, M
@Ynotisay I mean.. this male cat is solid and it's disturbing to see him do that to another male cat ,_,
BigAssLeech · 31-35, M
@MarijuanaAbuser That could be a dominance behavior. I'm a dog person, not a cat person, so I don't know for sure. But I do know that dogs will hump each other for dominance, to initiate play, because they're socially awkward, overstimulated, or stressed.
There are homosexual non-human animals, to be clear. But I don't think that's what's going on with your mom's cat.

@BigAssLeech I should have been more precise. My comment should have included the words "OTHER mammalian species". I was implying that preferential homosexuality appears to be a uniquely homo sapiens evolution
Ynotisay · M
@MarijuanaAbuser Why would it be disturbing? An awesome element of animal behavior is that it just "is." Animals don't have the cognitive reasoning like humans so there's no morality or any human construct attached to it. Personally, I find that pretty cool.
CarolineP · 70-79, F
@MarijuanaAbuser Your question was "Can animals be homosexual?". My answer was not intrinsically, although force majeure males will copulate with males.
CarolineP · 70-79, F
@Ynotisay Again, you are misunderstanding the simple answer. Outside of homo sapiens, no evidence exists for hard-wired homosexuality. There is much same-sex mating, faute de mieux but the moment an available mate of the opposite sex appears, the heterosexual imperative invariably takes over.
