social online connection services - what do you use ?

Does anyone use services like google hangouts etc. to connect and communicate with people they know? I'm only using phone/txt/email and whatsapp but whatsapp is getting to the point I don't like it because its too 'linked in' (lol) to the Bookface ecosystem like Linked In is intertwined into Microsoft land.

Yeah it’s getting harder and harder to just be without the platform you’re using wanting to add crap you neither want or need that steals your privacy for its own ends.

No I gave up WhatsApp; Facebook; Candid; Imgur; etc. long ago
