You don't really forget, your perception just shifts subtly. For instance, if you're upset because you hate your job, you don't feel as hopeless about it. Instead of being overwhelmed by how much you hate your job but feeling unable (due to mental exhaustion, anxiety, etc.) to do anything about it, you feel like you finally have the strength and clarity of mind to face the situation head on and actively do something about it.
Also, you might find that you are dwelling less on the negatives in life and not taking things as personally as you did before.

It depends on the person. For some yes. A lot of the time it takes weeks if not months or in cases of an extreme episode,years. Usually even a lot of people get worse before they feel better while on those medications,and many are wrongly prescribed different types of medicine for different things that can trigger other underlying mental illnesses. The truth is scientists don't fully understand how the brain works nor how these medications fully affect us or why they can be so successful. You just have to be patient and preserve. Thats the best you can do
