A man stayed home while his family went to church. He didn’t understand or care why God would send his only son and all that. A snowstorm raged outside. He kept hearing what sounded like snowballs hitting his windows, so he opened his door to see who was doing that. It was birds! They saw the light of his house and were trying to get in, but they kept hitting the windows. The man opened his door to let them in but they wouldn’t come in. He tried making breadcrumb trails but the dumb birds wouldn’t bite and continued to huddle and shiver in the storm.
The man really wanted to help but the birds weren’t responding. He thought, “If only I was a bird. If I looked like them I could speak to them in their birdy language and tell them that there was shelter, food and warmth in the house.”
Just then the man heard the church bells and it finally clicked: God needed a way to speak to people, because they just weren’t hearing him. So he sent his son. The people would understand the son because he looked like them and sounded like them and spoke their language. He would deliver the message.
And so we have Christmas.
Merry Christmas all!!
