The White House is claiming the Covid Pandemic is over - so why are infections and hospitalisations increasing?

Because it’s a virus.Viruses do that. And they burn themselves out eventually...if you let them. This one won’t because we are trying to stop people getting it.....dare I suggest the USA has it right?
Cue shooting down in flames.

Don't try saying that on Facebook or Twitter... they would ban you in a second. 🤫

@TheSirfurryanimalWales Ask Sweden how they feel about that.. They tried letting it run its course..Until too late.😷
@Thinkerbell I speak only the truth.I have studied Pandemics from the History angle. And I strongly suggest everyone else does. They might conclude that those in the past got it right.
@whowasthatmaskedman instead of spouting rubbish read this

I agree you are speaking the truth. But since the managements of Facebook and Twitter want Trump to lose, they censor such inconvenient truths.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales Ask Australia and NZ about it then. Sweden looks like a dismal failure compared to us. And we just stopped the second wave in Victoria.

The article is interesting. It doesn't attribute cause though. So we can't conclude that the virus is less deadly - it's possible - but more likely that they are managing it better, which needs to be accounted for in projections. But the impact of the virus is pretty nasty even if you don't die. My neighbour will never work again, with an enlarged heart. About 1 in 4 of those hospitalised have significant ongoing issues. My reading of the lessons from Spanish flu point to the need for social distancing, etc. I admit my study of it isn't exhaustive at all, though. What are you seeing that is different?

@Abstraction A major factor in the management of Covid is community support and Compliance, The Swedes were counted on to be good at this by their government. New Zealand, Australia and particularly Victoria certainly were well behaved and broadly supported the Govt. (There are always a few idiots who want attention of course) Now lets talk about how much Americans trust their government and follow the rules.. Or maybe not.......................... It is quite likely America will be the test case for what happens when a pandemic goes viral. (pun intended) In the meantime, France is going back into lock down again.😷
@Abstraction Pandemics have existed for millennia. Some of them were so deadly they wiped out the majority of the then population.
But even when no one had clue about how things worked there was recognition that the sick needed to be isolated. In this one it’s lockdown everyone.
New Zealand,Taiwan,Vietnam all got it right it seems. But I bet it is still there.Just waiting to flare up again.Just as in Australia. And did the virus disappear because of lockdown or just go naturally? We need to know.
I am not underplaying that for some Covid is deadly or leaves life lasting problems. But for most who get it it isn’t.Many have had it and not even known. The recovery rate is high.
And other viruses and illnesses that kill haven’t suddenly disappeared.
Now we can all continue with lockdowns (which even WHO are concluding don’t work),wrecking the economy, ruining people’s lives forever and letting people die from conditions they might survived if their treatment hadn’t been halted or not started(and that is happening here)or we can accept the virus is here to stay, live normally and accept the consequences.Spanish flu may have killed up to fifty million but it disappeared without draconian lockdowns.
I have not changed my stance since day one.I want to live not just exist. If I get it and die as a result so be it.My mental health is shot. The mental health crisis this approach is causing is being ignored.
Nine months with no social contact, nothing to look forward to.Perhaps many years of this
to follow. No one can live like this.I can’t see the point of being alive at the moment.
And I haven’t really answered your question but I see more and more people coming round to my way of thinking.
And I will be shot down in flames for writing this but I don’t care. The question is when will the revolutions begin and governments fall.Because people won’t accept being locked down forever.

They are NOT doing enough to ameliorate what you've just stated.
That's NOT ok.
The scales have to be in a balance
and they are so far from it!

Sending you much love and good vibes. L.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales I certainly won't be shooting you down. You articulate your position well and make some really valid points.
There are different strategies at different stages of a pandemic too, hey. In early stages you try to catch it like SARS. Our state government put us through a lockdown for the second wave - which worked - but there's a cost, yes. We're coming out now and they're trying to manage it with contact tracing, etc. It's different when it becomes widespread in a population. I only know I don't want the damn thing. I had pneumonia as a little kid of about 3 - I actually remember feeling hot, getting out of bed and going out to the paddle pool before my mum saw me through the window. So my lungs are vulnerable.
@TheSirfurryanimalWales 🤗🤗🤗.

Love you, L.
