What experience taught you to be more selfish?

I'm currently pretty frustrated. A lot of it is with myself. I feel like I'm doing too many favors for others and putting my life on pause. I need to learn to be more selfish.

When I realised that people won't be by your side despite you doing so much for them. I ended up being alone and that was when it hit me that I had to learn to be selfish.
