The Holy Bible is not a book to be lightly cast aside...

..Throw it as hard and as far away as you possibly can. It is poison.

I would not be considered very religious. Or a ‘good’ Christian. I am filled with human faults and have done much wrong and much right. I do not go to church. However, I find the Bible to be a great source of wisdom and inspiration.

I never found that. I find Star Trek a far better source of wisdom and inspiration as it has a superior morality to the bible.

@Deserthiker Beautiful! 💞

@Deserthiker Liked your post.. Just one thought.. We should never wish anyone to go to hell.. Do you agree?
Carazaa · F
@Adstar The reason I am here is because I care about people and I want people to realize that Jesus came to take their burdens away, in this life and the next! We all have some trials in this life but it can be a lot more smooth with God!

@Adstar I agree. We should not do that. Like I said, I’m not a good Christian and there are times when I do wish that on some people. There are evil people in this world who do great harm to the innocent. I cannot help myself.

@NortiusMaximus Really. I am a huge Star Trek fan, have been since I was a child. Somehow, I missed the moral teachings of Gene Roddenberry in any of the scripts. There is altruism’The Rath of Khan’ but the utopian Federation concept fails to take human nature in to account and the evil usually comes from other planets, or dimensions.
No matter how I look at it, I cannot see how the science fiction series and movies have a greater morality than the teachings of Jesus Christ. These can be found in that immoral book called the bible

In Star Trek, aliens and women are not automatically considered inferior. The Prime Directive prohibits interfering with others' societies; christian are told to force their religion onto other, regardless of how damaging it be. Try viewing Star Trek with an open mind.

@NortiusMaximus I’m curious as to where you heard those things. First of all. I don’t call people from Mexico or other countries aliens. I’m a Christian, in fact, my parents came to this country from Mexico, I am not a big church guy but I was never called ‘son of aliens’ or treated differently when we went to church.
I was never told to force my beliefs on anyone. I was taught, as Christ taught, never to judge. I was taught never to hide my beliefs, I was taught a relationship with Christ was an individual and personal decision.
What Bible did you read? Christ teaches us to love our enemies in the Bible I read.
Almost every Old Testament hero is depicted as human with some sort of moral imperfection. Because all humans are imperfect, even if they are the king of Israel.
I find it odd you made that statement about women, when both old and new testaments give amazing examples of great and heroic women. I believe women are my equals, my business partner is a woman. Maybe I didn’t pay attention in Sunday school.
I have watched Star Trek in every state of mind you can imagine. I’m a huge fan, it is highly entertaining and thought provoking. In fact there is a Star Trek episode where Christ is referenced. (Sun worship or Son worship) Please educate me. Where is the great moral message is.
The utopian state of earthly humankind and the federation is a nice thought. Impossible due to human nature but still a nice thought.

@NortiusMaximus 🙂 Please realize that Christian countries following the Bible are the most equal of all countries, with the least corruption in history. Scandinavia still have Christian Government, and there is no countries as equal and respectful to all people as those countries in Scandinavia. It is in Muslim, and atheistic countries where the abuse toward women and violence and corruption happen, Korea, Russia, China, and Middle East.

No they don't. Both Sweden and Norway have disestablished the Lutheran church.
Not sure about Denmark.
Carazaa · F
@ninalanyon Not true. The Swedish church still has been helping the refugees by the borders and is still active in every country.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Carazaa But the governments are secular.
