PSA: Just because someone has a heavy accent doesn’t mean they don’t have a better english vocabulary than you.

That is true. It reminds me of when I was speaking to an Indian man and he kept apologising for his 'bad English' just because of his accent, when his vocabulary was superior to many native English speakers.
