If we have always had prison, and punishment, more often than now horrifying and brutal, why on earth would we need a notion of hell to control the masses. If you are not afraid of torture, rape, beatings, incarceration, starvation and death NOW and its REAL - you can observe it and experience it. Then why praytell would the IDEA of hell be more of a contolling factor?
