What is more important? To win or to be right?

Now that is a difficult question. If you win in the sense that you take over political power, then for most of human history you could force your subjects and/or conquered people to admit that a fact was a lie. If you threaten people with death or the death of their families, most people will say that 2+2 = 5 if you tell them to reply "5".

On the other hand, reality is reality. Nobody wins against reality. Earth rotates around the sun regardless of what the Roman Catholic clergy were preaching. Command economies do not work as well as freet market economies regardless how many people the Communists killed, imprisoned or humiliated.
