To win through mob mentality seems to be most people's choice, really. You could argue that 2+2 = 4, but if the other person wishes to make out you are an ist or a phobe, or just a bad person in general, for saying 2+2=4 then all that matters is that and convincing as many people as possible that you are those things, facts don't matter. People are hedonists and want to feel morally superior and popular.

@Inanna If you engage in a situation with even the slightest level of objectivity, open mindedness and fairness each side will brand you an evil person. It goes quite extreme too. One time I merely commented on someone's post about saving money at a discount store to say "you'd save more money buying unbranded drink" and I was told that I hate disabled people, poor people and the NHS. Despite having a disability treated by the NHS and being poor. Another had a problem with me because I didn't support violence against political personalities she didn't like and had the approach of "well lets look at this evidence too". She ended up calling me a racist and a sexist. And I have a partner of a different race.
