Would You? If I had a time machine...

I would take about half of these little bastard protesters and drop them off in a Hot LZ in Vietnam between 1968 and 1972. Let's see how they feel then when somebody stomps or burns The American Flag.

Vietnam was a war that had no reason to occur...

Except it made the bankers loads of money.

@Amyrakunejo I agree totally! It was a senseless waste of life, time, and money over noting but politics.

@Amyrakunejo "Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on Brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights? No I’m not going 10,000 miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over."

@helenS This was when he changed his name from Cassius Clay (aka Cassius X) to Muhammad Ali and converted to Islam. This gave him an out to avoid the draft. he was making so much money "the old white slave masters" were not about to let him go to Vietnam.

@OwnerOfMany I really didn't know he had changed his name. I know many Black people did at the time. I think it's because they did not want to be named after their great-grandfathers' slave owners' name. Famous jazz keyboardist Herbie Hancock, for example, adopted a Swahili name.

@helenS That name changing thing took off after the war...it wasn't common until the mid to late 70s.
helenS · 36-40, F
@OwnerOfMany Personally I find it rather silly, but then again, my ancestors have not been Black slaves.

@helenS Personally I find it insulting to the parents "IF" the parents did indeed raise and care for that person.

@OwnerOfMany Yes, and it's not a successful "breaking free" from the past. We can't get rid of our past, neither by a name change, nor by tearing down monuments. I think it would be more appropriate (and more peaceful) to provide a dubious monument with an informative plate.
Likewise, I don't think it's very wise to rename
the "Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs" to "The Princeton School of Public and International Affairs".
@OwnerOfMany Here's another kick in the groin fact.

The information about the Vietnamese warship engaging in attacking a US vessel was all phony.

@Amyrakunejo There is a lot of misinformation about Vietnam.
