The last thing of that kind anyone said to me was NOTHING. In other words, he just suddenly stopped speaking to me. I found out it was because he found out I am Jewish. I also had the same kind of experience at my church (I'm a Christian convert) when I became friendly with a young woman but her husband ended our friendship and ordered her not to speak to me when he found out about my ethnicity. I've also been warned (by a Jewish woman I met) not to bother to attempt to join the local country club.
