Not that bad
Put mine off $4k here so may just pull for $400 2nd rear molar who needs it at my age...:)
Yes and the answer is it depends on whether your dentist is good and gives you enough anaesthetic. If you feel any discomfort tell them you want more anaesthetic, do not take no for an answer. You should feel nothing.

I had one. It was horrendous. FOR ME. It may not be for you. I have a phobia. The dentist sent me home the first time, because my jaw was so tense he couldn't get the needle in to freeze it. He gave me Valium to take before coming the next day. Still had problems. When it was done, I was crying, he was shaking and sweating. He told the receptionist to send the people in the waiting room home, cancel the rest of his appointments for the day. And gave me the name of a colleague to do the permanent filling. He was not impressed with me either.

Oh no. Sounds like you had a terrible experience.
Serenitree · F
@cougarcandy: yes. But it was my fault. My inability to get past the phobia. Not the dentists. They both did the best I was able to let them do.

I have had one.. It's painless.
Hurts your pocket way more than your mouth.
Anopenheart · 56-60, M
i did. no pain killer. !!!!!!!!dont recomend it lol
cougarcandy · 61-69, F
Believe me neither would I. Big baby about pain :(
Anopenheart · 56-60, M
it wasn't for lack of trying. i had an absess that they couldnt find for three days. then it went bonkers on me. they shot me up seven times adn also gave me gas, but it didn't do any good. the infection nullified all the painkiller. the whole ordeal lasted over two hours . It was quite shocking. nothing but raw pain, waiting for it to go away.
cougarcandy · 61-69, F
Argh no no don't want to hear that lol
katielass · F
I've had one and it sure felt better after.
cougarcandy · 61-69, F
I just had two. The one caused an abcess on my gums and as soon as it was done it went away. Felt awesome.
cougarcandy · 61-69, F
As I found out. Just had two in a row and not bad at all. :)
LunarOrbit · 61-69, M
Wonderful! 😬
I've had two. Not fun, but not as bad as it sounds, either. The worst part for me is the length of time your mouth is open.
cougarcandy · 61-69, F
@BizSuitStacy I ended up having two at one time which made the time with my mouth open terrible. However as you say it wasn’t as bad as I had expected. Then two years later I had to have another one😩.
@cougarcandy two at the same time? Ughhhh 😩 That sounds rough.

Nope but I once had a good root on a canal😜
Atrevido1 · 61-69, M
Hope it went well. I had a very painful broken tooth, so it was actually better than the toothache.
Not as bad as many people say eh?
cougarcandy · 61-69, F
Haven't had it done yet. They are trying to getbthe infection stopped. January 10th is the target date. :)
Atrevido1 · 61-69, M
Ouch! Well you will feel much relief. Good luck to you.
LunarOrbit · 61-69, M
I've had several. They're the best teeth in my mouth.
chuck7882 · 61-69, M
Wasn't really any worse than getting a filling done except it takes a lot longer and your jaw gets tired. And then when the novacaine wears off, there can be pain afterwards

Hello, I am interested in chatting about cougar/cub topics. I am also interested in talking about family topics. I mean the "I" word.
Serenitree · F
@ProfRS So, how was your last root canal?
stluke · 61-69, M
be brave with a good dentist no problems i have had about 5 and never had any trouble
Serenitree · F
@stluke: I must have had a bad dentist. He dislocated my jaw.

I didn't think it was that much worse than normal dental work, except that it takes longer.
Waxfoot · 56-60, M

Not to bad. I had an endodontist that knew what he was doing.
katielass · F
I had one many years ago and it was bad but not as bad as I expected.

@NearMiss: naw girl....I got good teeth. ;)
IntenseCookie · 26-30, F
It's better than not getting a root canal when you need one.

They're really not that bad as long as you remember to take your pain killers.
SW-User
You really don't need pain killers...
IntenseCookie · 26-30, F
I don't know. I needed a root canal a year before I got it so my tooth was... yeah... I tried to stop taking my pain killers early and it just didn't go over well >.>
achangeofplan · 36-40, M

I've had one and I elected to be sedated and I don't remember it at all it was good :)
jackson55 · M
It's not so bad. It's the 30/40 minutes you have to keep your mouth open.
cougarcandy · 61-69, F
@jackson55 Lol as I found out.
