In your opinion, do people really have free will? Is it simply an illusion?

I have free will, as long as I am ready to accept the consequences of my actions. I believe in God but I don't think he has every action written in stone for me to fulfill in my life. I don't think every person has a purpose in life, there are things that need to be done and if I don't do it, someone else will. I can cheat on my wife, I can drink till I puke and then drive home if I choose. But the consequences if I get pulled over or if my wife catches me are the results of my free will. Poor choices lead to a loss of free will.
