Straight kids already have many clubs where its understood that everyone is straight. Should they start a club that focuses solely on being straight? That would seem odd because most people are straight so what is the goal of this club except maybe to antagonize the lgbt club.
Im not a person who necessarily supports lgbt, just using my common sense here.

@REMsleep a club should just be a club based on mutual interest not sexual gender as i say i think that is discriminitery

@smiler2012 I hate when people think this way because Im black. (I also hate when people compare being gay to being black but I will go ahead and break my own rule)
If my school is 90% white, would it be profitable to develop a Black Student Union?
I would say that as long as the students wanted it then yes.
Even though the only unifier in that club is race based it could most definitely serve a purpose.
Being such a minority in the school would present unique challenges. Sharing a culture that is not shared by the others it might help to discuss ways to be successful within the school or have a safe place where you don't have to mute who you are to be acceptable as normal.
This can help at risk kids and promote understanding.
I don't see any difference between this and LGBT club.

@REMsleep is this is a critisism of my stance or the authors as discrimination in any form is wrong in my eyes

@smiler2012 Your stance. Clubs based on race or sexual preference are ok if they offer support to students who fit those descriptions. I think that your problem is that you feel that conversations on sexual orientation have no place at school and I can almost agree. Almost because being gay is more than sexual orientation.

@REMsleep the point i am trying to make is if you are a homosexual / lesbian / transgender / bisexual what ever because this specifies you are straight you would be banned from joining like men only clubs that catergorically not have female join i am not homosexual myself not that it really matters in this discussion i just hate the idea of people being left out because of one persuasion or another
