So apparently I am a racist if I ask about white folks stealing black culture?

I think it's alright to participate in another race's culture, just so long as you don't act stupid and try to pretend it's yours too. Like, I'm not Asian but I love listening to Chinese folk music. But I'm not gonna wear a sedge hat and pretend to speak Mandarin.

@BlueMetalChick This is well said. I’m white but the piano music I love is by black performers and musicians. Ray Charles, Professor Longhair, Stevie Wonder. I don’t see how it’s inappropriate for me to play or occasionally even perform that music. But if I were trying to somehow impersonate them or act as if that musical history were my own instead of just something I love, that would be more problematic.

@Harmonium1923 The most frustrating one for me is when people emulate the stereotypes of my race, but then go on to talk about how we're human trash and scum. So it's fine for them to wear our clothes and butcher our language and pretend like they invented our culture, but when we do it, it makes us shit and we should just fuck off and die.
