@ArishMell It would be a distraction.Most of this years entrants have official Eurovision approved videos.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales I must admit not having seen any of these contests for many years - and have no TV anyway - but from hearing various entries from various countries over that time, in radio reports, it all seems a "best of a bad job" choice of the bland, derived and unoriginal.

Indeed, I am not sure if musical initiative and ability isn't sometimes a vote-loser!

The ESC is organised by the European Broadcasting Union (nothing to do with the European Union); as are for example, live-broadcast Christmas tours of European church carol-services, and relays from the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.

Form the [i]Radio Times[/i], I see this coming Saturday's "Met" offering is an opera by Rossini, but in the circumstances I wonder if it will go ahead.

Cancelling it would of course be a great disappointment for the intending audience, performers and venue staff (and financial loss for "The Met" itself), though at least the EBU broadcasters can put out recorded performances of the same work, as the BBC has had to start doing in place of its regular live concerts in Britain.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales 🤔 what it is up to abuse or me being a cynic 🤣 mind you the way it was done before it was not done on merit of the song a lot of the time just pettiness and favouritism by one country towards another and vice versa now that is cynicism 🤣

@smiler2012 that is exactly right..all the eastern bloc vote for each other,no one votes for the UK,.It’s all aligned along political lines.What your song is like is irrelevant.
It never used to be like that-but of course there used to be fewer countries,,,
