I don't know the first thing about relationships, but I think one lover 'punishing' the other in such a petty, miserable way is an excellent sign that the relationship has failed.
@Niloo Nobody should learn to handle someone else deliberately hurting them. If the treater gives up the practice, that's obviously a road to redemption though.
