Apartments are by definition things you rent or lease (to buy it, you have to buy the building).
An apartment which you can buy is a condominium ("condo",for shortl in the US, but you must
- expect to pay houselike prices for onlynan apartment, and
- expect a condominium association fee which is paid to take care of common areas, pay the property managers, etc.
Some homes are rental homes or leases, sometimes with options to buy.
Mobile homes are a weird combination: you own the home but rent the land and have association fees.
