Yes, I have written a book. I tried self publishing and then found a publisher.
My first attempt with a publisher was a complete disaster; I had no idea what I was doing and after I signed the contract, the publisher altered the guidelines and asked me for nearly £2,000 to have the book edited. I pulled out of that, as payment had not been mentioned in the contract, which was thus negated.
Since then I found, or rather was recommended, a decent publisher who has taken some of what I write.
I do not have an agent.

@helensusanswift Yes. I have been mulling that over.

@Tomorrow Remember to avoid vanity publishers - those who charge you hundreds or thousands of pounds to 'publish' your book.

@helensusanswift Oh there's no way I'd ever pay. They will pay me. :) Thanks.
Does writing stupid notes and leaving them on coworkers areas considered as personally published works?
If so then yes. I’ve done well for myself.

I’ve written one and half of a second one (the half of the second one is longer than the entire first one). Never published anything. Barely even had it read.

@SW-User Maybe someday you will. :)

No not myself.
I have two friends who've both self published 2 novels each now.

I have two completed novels I do nothing with. I seem to be in some forever editing loop.

helensusanswift · 26-30, F

Yes, had a publisher publish it. Today most "books" are really print on demand, and electronic. It was still a bear to get done!
