London is a hugely mixed city. Two million pound houses lie adjacent to social housing. So it's hard to recommend any specific area, unless you are a zillionaire, and can afford Kensington. Mayfair, hampstead etc.
Easier to say what to avoid. Tower Hamlets, Lewisham spring to mind - but even Lewisham has lovely enclaves. West, South West and South East London tend to be better.
So really to go there with "How much can you afford" and how close to the centre you want to be.
