Are you aware that you can be penalised for not having fluid in a vehicle's screen washer bottle?

It's common sense that you make sure you do but I wasn't aware it was an offense if it was empty. You learn something every day. Just a bit of trivia.

Is that in the UK?

@cherokeepatti Yes, it was an article I read about a UK woman who was fined. I checked though and it applies here in Australia too.

@Zoranna No such law here that I’ve heard about. Some states may still require vehicle inspections & they check for windshield wiper blades & other things.

@cherokeepatti Interesting. The police here can pull anyone over on the pretext of a vehicle check but I'd never heard of anyone being fined for that. Faulty wiper blades and bald tyres etc yes.

@Zoranna Oh one thing that the city police here will ticket if they see you have a crack in the windshield, like a piece of gravel from a truck wheel that makes a little hole or crack. The glass man who repaired windshields for the car lot I used to work at told me that.

@cherokeepatti Yes, I was aware of that one. It applies here too.
"Oil leak" is a common one too and not many older cars pass that unscathed.
