House calls made by doctors. Today it might well be a PA or NP.

@soar2newhighs When we lived on the farm our family doctor was an osteopath. He made house calls for urgent things when his clinic was closed after hours or weekends. Drove out to the farm one day when my little sister had hives. She had eaten a half a quart jar of yellow mustard. Gave her a shot and told her not to eat anything the rest of the day but within a couple hours she was crying so my aunt fed her. He also came out one Sunday when I had strep throat ,was staying with farm neighbors while my family was moving our stuff back to the farm. And he came out when I was born, it was during an ice storm & my mom had quick labor. He didn’t make it on time but everything turned out OK, he checked us over & filled out my birth certificate. Doc Bailey had a walk-in clinic, first come, first served unless it was very urgent.
