Both are in the wrong. I wrote a post about it yesterday, but I'll tell you the short and skinny.

The US has extremely bad crimes against Iran under its belt from the '50s through '80s, primarily the 1953 coup and Iran-Iraq war. And in recent years, the US has done some hawkish and cruel things to Iran and the people with whom Iran sympathizes, such as supporting Israel in their human rights violations against the Palestinians, destabilizing the Levant through direct military intervention, fueling the genocidal coalition campaign in Yemen, running joint military drills in and around the Strait of Hormuz, flying drones in or near Iran, leaving the JCPOA, and passing illegal medical sanctions against the Islamic Republic. The US also might be supporting the PJAK in secret, but the evidence for that is very slim.

Iran has also done a lot of really bad shit (even outside of their repressive domestic policy), such as supporting Hamas in Palestine, the Assad regime in Syria, the Houthis in Yemen, and the Special Groups in Iraq. Iran has also destroyed foreign oil tankers on multiple occasions, flown drones near US ships, and attacked Saudi oil fields.

Neither one is in the right. Both countries should go to the UN to get this shit sorted out.
