It would have made sense.
Direct reprisals for the taking of U.S. hostages shortly after the Shah's expulsion.
I'm not one for supporting American foreign policy.
Too many times America picks the wrong side just to shore-up it's own 'vested interests'.
But imagine if America had hit back and destroyed the Mullah's soon after they seized power in Iran.
Would we have seen all the conflict in that region everyday since ?
You have to wonder.
