The images are horrifying

My mum called me not long ago, she told me that Rosedale NSW has burnt to the ground and our family friends home is gone. They are trapped on the beach with no way out. Your father has taken the boat and is going to launch it about 30 ks north of Rosedale and pick them up along with as many as he can fit onboard. Knowing your father he will be doing a few trips.

My poor exhausted dad has just arrived home after being away for the past two weeks fighting the fires. I am constantly worried sick about him.

Gee why don't they keep the tall weeds mowed down. Also use a controlled fire to kill the main fire. That is what we use to do at my grandparents house

@smileylovesgaming They aren’t weeds, it’s native bush. They were doing controlled burn offs in September, these fires started in September. Nobody could have foreseen the magnitude of this, Eucalyp fires burn hotter than any other bush fires on the planet. The heat is so intense they ignite up to twenty metres in front of the fire and travel up to eighty kilometres an hour. We used to do more and bigger controlled burn offs but the Greens party had a victory in reducing them. We also used let cattle graze in the high country which kept the undergrowth in control. Globally no one is geared to cater for such an event, what can I say.
