@cherokeepatti - I was thinking more on the grounds of being wired with the table light wiring. That way you don't have to buy or recharge the batteries. Could also add some glass marbles to add to the light fragmentation too.

@stormwatcher I have a string of colored LED Christmas lights with a battery pack, put it in a wide-mouth quart fruit jar and covered the base with silk flowers, makes a nice night-light and good for when the power goes out.

My antique button collection.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SweetMae I bet that’d be interesting.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SweetMae wow, antique buttons

Sea glass.
In case you don't know, it's small bits of glass washed up on a beach with the pebbles so that it's super smooth.

@Johnblackthorn I know what it is, if I lived near a beach I’d try to collect them.

@Johnblackthorn Definitely seaglass. Beautiful stuff.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@Johnblackthorn Pretty

sea shells.
something that won't go sour, for sure. i thought, river rocks... but that would be too heavy.

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User maybe not, river rocks can be very pretty.

Nothing. I kind of like the asethetic of it empty.

Sea shells. They used to have bags of them for sale at Savers. I used to buy the huge glass vases...the bigger the better...and I would layer pink sand on the bottom, followed by a layer of turquoise glass flattened marbles, then and layer of shells and so on. The broken shells always in the middle, and the prettiest ones on the outside where they could show off their beauty.

I think something clear like colored and/or clear beads, or chunks of glass, chunks not broken bottle type. That or dried flowers.

I’d put a betta In there
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MrAboo It’s bad enough to be electrocuted (have been when I was 4 years old) but adding water to it and getting electrocuted is likely to be lethal.
MrAboo · 36-40, M
@cherokeepatti yes that s not worth the risk
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MrAboo It’s a cool idea though.
NCCindy · 36-40, F
Water and a couple of fish would be neat
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SweetMae As long as you never plugged in the lamp and it was sealed up not to leak.
NCCindy · 36-40, F
@cherokeepatti Technicalities
4meAndyou · F
Sorry to comment twice, but no one has mentioned potpourri.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou that’s another interesting idea
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti I was just thinking they probably don't have a lot of sea shells where you live, and I asked myself...well, what will be readily available? You can dry your own flowers...
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou can buy shells at Hobby Lobby and crafting stores.
Initially I thought water beads with a light.
But - given the particualr design and earthy colour of this lamp...
I'd probably use earth toned grains and layer them, (the lamp is very ractangly - so beads wouldnt suit as they're round) and maybe do this - a little miniature terrarium.
As.someone else mentioned - filling it with something heavyish would make it stable.

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Freudianslip13 I have some but not enough to fill a lamp.
@cherokeepatti it could encourage you to travel more!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Freudianslip13 I’ve gotten quite a few coins here, would find some in used cars purchased at auctions.

Marbles or glass beads
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MrBrownstone marbles would be very colorful. I went to a garage sale one time and a collector was selling off his collection, I don’t know why, but it seemed he had thousands and some very old ones too.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@cherokeepatti Colored sand works too

Lead filings so that it's harder to knock over.
