Why do people hate Cliff Richard?

I think he's cool, but people have mocked me because of that and Radio stations seemed to have banned his songs on air, I don't believe all those allegations about him either, a witch hunt, blown out of proportion.

The allegations are so unproved he won a case against the BBC for talking about it.

I suspect it's more changing music taste? I literally saw a greatest hits album advertised yesterday though

@Andy69 if you are a fan of cliff richard what is wrong with that each to there own no matter whether they like the peter pan of pop he has been going a long time now and made some good songs and made his money over the decades of his fame

Like any other artist, they stop playing them, and people forget about them.

Also, some artists remain absolutely huge in Europe but if the US doesn't play them a lot, many Americans begin to sneer at the mention of their names. For example -

I think he's self centred. A few years ago when the copyright on his early songs was about to expire he campaigned long and hard for the copyright laws to be extended using the excuse "copyright income is my pension".

Fucking greedy twat. He made more in a year than I made in my entire working life. If *I* had to pay into a pension fund to sustain me in retirement why the fuck would he think he ought to be exempt?

I also suspect there may more to those allegation than ever came to light. It's the only reason I can think of why he'd take a recording company to court in an attempt to force them to delete all know recording of him singing a song in 1968 aged 26 in which he expressed the anticipation of deflowering a young girl.

@bijouxbroussard In the US, he really only had one hit: "We Don't Talk Anymore", around 79/80 or so. Huge elsewhere, especially the UK
