I don't hear people using racial slurs at all, and I've grown up in fairly diverse city. In fact the only time I've ever had someone bring up race in a negative way with me was when some spoiled shit from the suburbs didn't get his way with me and thought that calling me a racist would change the outcome of the situation (it didn't). I find that a lot of the accusations of racism in the modern day are made by people who profit or gain something from stirring up controversy online

I don’t think them saying it to each other is actually racist though since it’s often said in an affectionate way. Not trying to defend it, I personally think the whole “taking it back” thing with the N-word is as stupid as actually using it to be racist.
