@Glambarber Nah, I wasn't going to say more. Maybe the sentence isn't correct... I don't have that english feeling.

@Glambarber Well, it's only a figure in a book. Maybe I should have used character. Would that be more acceptable

@Glambarber The confusion is arising because Kwek wrote "then" instead of "than".

"...way more annoying than the God figure, honestly". That should clarify.

@SW-User Oh yeah... could be. Not english and a light form dyslexia, is a brutal combo for communication sometimes.

@Glambarber Hmm, no, not quite. "then" and "than" are pronounced identically with reduced vowels in many instances; furthermore they are both function words which are easier to mistake than content words.

@Glambarber Because they "sound" the same in my head. My problem is that I sometimes write stuff phonetically.

@Glambarber You are aware of your thoughts right? You don't perceive them as being vocal in your head?

@Glambarber In American English, "than" only rhymes with "tan" when it is pronounced in isolation or emphasized; otherwise it is pronounced with a reduced vowel, i.e. a schwa. Much as "then" is pronounced when it is spoken quickly.

@Glambarber Ah, I'm sorry that you understand it then, I don't know how to make it more clear. but I'm a foreigner to english. Maybe you perceive it diffrently then me. I'm just socialised as someone that speaks dutch.

@Glambarber If I was aware what my mistake was, then I would have just corrected it myself. Am I wrong here, or are you super invested in this?
