A few misconceptions about Atheism

Writing this because I made a friend her early and lost him in less than 20 minutes as he went full out ballistic on me, making up ridiculous claims of being in the upper echelon of A Christian hierarchy. A direct voice for God. etc. Frustrating to try and have a friendly dialogue.

Atheist myths: Atheists are thus devil worshippers. Absurd. We don't believe in God thus neither a fallen angel, demons .etc

We have guidelines to follow for new converts. Not true, there is no structured rules or belief system required to follow. Each member forms his own brand of Atheism or debates with others then objectively decides independantly.

Atheist just haven't read the bible thus unable to form a relation to God. Truth is most all other Athiest once completely accepted the bibles teachings many like myself were baptised, even I taught bible study and know scripture sometimes better than Preachers or other God enlightened church leaders.

There is never an attempt to convert Christians to Atheism. We believe in free will. Most of us have come to our personal acceptance of Atheism by some kind of spiritual epiphany, that we need to revaluate our belief system.

We have no comprehensive list of what you call sins. Most of us believe in the Golden Rule and that it is WRONG to impose our beliefs on others without their stated, informed. Adult consent.

We try to respect other religious choices.

AND above all. The USA is NOT a Christian Nation as so many are saying. Our forefathers made ensurances that this nation is purely secular and that the Government must not attempt a state religion.

Being an Atheist does not need a bible to establish moral values. Civilizations for centuries determind moral values whic are already most hardwired into our brains

Thanks for those who took the time to peruse this. Basically we just want to be left alone and like you, attempt to teach our childrem (without) clerical intervation the most
humane and diverse people promoting Agape love, Tolerance, and appitite for finding their own way in an era of so much hatred and intolerance.

Thanks, David.

Funny, it's these very people such as your short term "friend" that that push many people away from believing. And yes there are some very weird ideas on what atheists' are/do. I dare say someone will happily want to shoot you down but it's a good post.
