I definitely do not have an internal compass, and have probably done the same thing before...when a "landmark" first changes.

@Piper Yep.

If I had a dollar for every time I drove past my street I'd be rich

More like you. I lose trace of North-South/front-back the moment I step onto an elevator. I read maps by aligning them to my direction, meaning I turn them upside down when heading south. Without thinking, I forget that east is then to the left, so I say "turn left" when I really mean "turn right" :)
I'm OK when I follow my instincts, because everything is relative to where I'm heading. The problem is when I talk to myself to tell myself where to turn, and I listen to myself.

@Heartlander My man. Or, no - we'd never get anywhere. My dad used to call me Wrong Way Corrigan.

@JAYS21 It doesn't matter where I am. I'm lost.

I can't find my way around this one town in the valley anymore because a tornado wiped out all of my landmarks. It really is like being in the twilight zone.

I have no sense of direction. I'm always getting turned around
Mamapolo2016 · F
@Astro I can relate. The mileage of my cars never changes because I spend so much time in reverse.

They put in an overpass over an intersection around here that caused ridiculous tie-ups with just a signal. I'm not kidding, in the afternoon, traffic could get backed up for a mile with people waiting for the light to change. The first few times I went over there after they finished it, intending to turn on the cross street, I drove right past it even though there were huge green signs indicating what was now a highway exit. I was expecting a regular cross street, and when I didn't see one, I just kept going until I noticed that I had gone too far. I must have done this at least three or four times until I remembered to watch for the signs and exit that way.
Mamapolo2016 · F
@LeopoldBloom I would have done it 3 or 40 times. My sense of direction is somehow non-existent but still stubborn.
