Salem's Lot is excellent!
The Dead Zone, 11/22/63 and The Wind Through the Keyhole are perhaps my other favorites.
His latest, The Institute, is also very good.

i looked up the 11/22 one but it’s over 1000 pages??? holy cow, even KING himself said 300 pages is enough. @kim1girl
kim1girl · 70-79, T
@DoubleRings It's only 850 pages according to Amazon. It was a compelling read. King has some long ones, like The Stand, which is a classic.
I am curious- why "ThriftStore" for your screen name?

I like them. But it’s not something everyone knows about me so it’s still pretty anonymous.
Thanks for the tips on King reads btw. The stand is booked until forever at the library and the other one i prob can’t read 850 pages in a 3 week loan period but i will look for them at uhhhm my thrift stores! hahaha. @kim1girl

@DearAmbellina2113 is it about people who have to walk without stopping for days and days ?
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
@pikminboy yes, they get drafted to do it. They have to walk til they drop dead. If they stop, military dudes shot them.

you must read Misery
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
@SW-User i saw the movie. is it much different? I think reading those scenes would be terrifying

SW-User
@DoubleRings as is often the case the movie does the book little justice...the book is fantastic
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
My favorite is IT. I believe it's his masterpiece.
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
@DearAmbellina2113 i wouldn’t mind reading this one but it’s SOOOOO long!!!
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
@DoubleRings listen to the audiobook, it won't feel as long.

The Shining. And I enjoyed it long before Kubrick ruined it onscreen.
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
@bijouxbroussard I didn’t enjoy the movie much. It was bizarre. was the book bizarre? is the storyline the same pretty much?
bijouxbroussard · F
@DoubleRings No, that’s just it. The book was so much better. There were subtleties that the movies didn’t capture. And Kubrick actually changed the plot line so that a couple of things clear in the book made no sense in the movie.
