If a man killed the person that molested their child, do you think they should get prison time?
Like, the same they would for a standard murder?

I think they need some time away from society where they are given therapy. Murder is still murder. Even if it seems or feels justified.
That being said I also think anyone who rapes and kills a child should die for what they've done. So! I am by no means the voice of reason.

@dinonuggies That seems far too kind. Leaving them alone with their feelings and ideas for so long. Putting them through hell and making them miserable so the only thing they focus on is what brings them joy or pleasure is like stoking a fire.
They should face something different. Something that takes away from them that one thing that brings them so much pleasure.

It's best that the choice isn't up to me.
Their voice needs to be taken away. There should be no media coverage. They should get no communication with anyone but family that will still have them and those who are imprisoning them. They need to disappear.

I think details matter. You walk in on someone raping your 8 year old and you stab him repeatedly to make him stop? Should be self defense and not convicted of anything.
You find out your 17 year old has been having sex with a 19 year old so you invite the 19 year old over with the direct intention of killing him? Definitely deserves a murder conviction and prison time.
There are tons of variables that should be looked at and considered. It's not always as easy as black and white.

I don't think he'll care about the prison time, I wouldn't. He'd only be driven by grief, I'd be driven by both; grief and necessity.
Whatever is the motive, the action is reasonable.
Most rapists get away with it. Unless society fixes that, killing them is the[i] logical [/i]option. And killing is not always murder, it can be an act of mercy and self-defense.

Should ask the same question and place wrong with right and the one being murdered with the one being molested.
We live in a society governed by rules, we all have to play by the rules. If someone doesn't do so, inflict harm on you and walks out safely..that basically means this society failed to protect you despite of you following the rules and it protects him despite breaking them.
That leaves out one thing, the survival of the fittest. Rapists are not fit to survive.

No one is mentioning how the father needs therapy. I would give him that for free + prison time for murder. 2 months to 6 maybe 8 months depending on the situation

I could certainly understand why the man killed him but its still murder. He should not be taking the law into his own hands.
