Well liberals wrote the US Constitution so that would certainly put you at odds with the majority if you live in the United States.

@BlueMetalChick wow, liberals wrote the constitution? The Slave owners who wrote the constitution were liberals? The same who counted blacks as 3/5th a vote and didn't allow non-land owners or women to vote? Yes, that sounds like a liberal to me.

@Shapeshifter Well, no, because the Three Fifths Compromise was not even proposed until over a decade after the Constitution was signed. They were slave owners though, yes. And deists, which is odd for the time period.

Regardless, liberalism comes from the French Revolution and was extremely influential in world politics, particularly in the West. It forms the basis of concepts like "separation of powers" and "fair election."
