"Impeachment is not a criminal process but a political undertaking."

Does Congress have the power to impeach a duly elected president for non-criminal political reasons?

Demoncrats are a threat to democracy.

Clinton was impeached for lying to the grand jury and obstruction of justice over having an affair with an intern.

His affair wasn't illegal but, it became a MAJOR interest and concern for the Republicans and, they caught him in his lies.

Trump has done far more to undermine our constitution and the office of the Presidency in a very public way than any other sitting president. I hope they nail his ass to a wall for making us the world's laughingstock. Good luck to all of you who still believe in that piece of crap liar.

Yes, impeachment was designed intentionally as a political decision rather than one based on criminal offenses, because the founders of the US knew the law could be twisted by a dictator and would be too specific and slow to cover the myriad of offenses a malicious actor could commit using the broad powers of the executive branch. (they didn't want a leader that could find loopholes in the law in much the same way businesses find loopholes for taxes. They wanted a system where a president could be impeached for violating the voices of 'the better angels' of human nature)

Impeachment can be based on just behavior unbecoming the position of the presidency, and quite often it's attempts to cover up a noncriminal offence that solidifies an impeachment proceeding (eg Bill Clinton)

OK let’s go through this once more, slowly. Congress has the power to impeach the president. The House votes on articles of impeachment, but the trial is conducted in the Senate. The constitutional standard is whether the president has committed “high crimes and misdemeanors”. The reference about political v. Criminal actions refers to the process being conducted by Congress not the courts, and to the fact that the term “high crimes and misdemeanors”, which is not precisely defined, does not require a conviction in court on a criminal charge. This is not a Democratic or Republican issue. You may recall the last impeachment consisted of Republicans impeaching a Democratic president. So, the answer to your question is yes, they do.

They seem to think so.
Perhaps they are simply trying to get the public to throw in the towel on government - pushing anarchy.
