Have You Ever Walked Into A Grocery Store And Bought Something You Thought Was The Meat Of An Animal... And It Wasn't?

The very powerful meat industry, has done and are attempting to pass laws forbidding the use of labels/words like "veggie burger" or "vegan hot dog" on plant-based products. They SAY that it is confusing or "deceptive" to consumers, even though every plant-based "meat" product has meatless plain as day somewhere on the front of the packaging.

The meat industry, just like all industries, will do ANYTHING to keep people consuming its products. They must think vegetable-based burgers and hot dogs are going to keep consumer's money out of their pockets. Their claiming the labeling is deceptive or confusing, is a ploy. Do you think they would care if we were deceived or not if our being deceived meant our buying more meat?

@PhoenixPhail "Do you think they would care if we were deceived or not if our being deceived meant our buying more meat?"

Oh no, definitely not. They are obviously very concerned about all the interest in these plant-based products, even by those who still do consume meat. That, and some prospective some meat alternatives.

@Piper People's consciousness is being raised re: meat eating. One day in the future we won't be slaughtering and eating animals anymore
Piper · 61-69, F
@Fernie That may be, but at this time the sale of of meat has actually increased some.

@Fernie I hear there's supposed to have been a stop to "caging" chickens now for their eggs. I won't buy those kinds of eggs anymore!
@Peaches Well, "supposed to" is one thing, whether or not they stop the practice, is another. People these days will do seemingly anything to save a buck, even at the expense of life, itself. The crisis in consciousness is so pervasive, it's invisible, and seems normal. Pity. 😭

@PhoenixPhail Well I will only buy "cage free" eggs. We mostly go to the farmers out here. We only buy them in the stores when they are out of eggs.
@Peaches I've been buying only cage free, organic. I get them from the farmers who are kind to their chickens when I can.

@Peaches Unfortunately, those 'more humane' labels on eggs are quite misleading. It's great that you have access to actual "free range" hens. :)

@Piper Yes...I've thought of that too.🤔 The world we live in is really just one big lie!😯🌍️💥
@Peaches Yep. 😔
