Do you like raking leaves in the fall?

I do but something that makes me uneasy is that snakes camouflage really well in the leaves. Makes me kind of. Nervous if the leaves are piled up in places. I raked up two snakes one time, and it was the last week in November.

We don't really have that problem here. Garter snakes are common, but we never really see them. Just the vibrations of humans raking leaves would be enough to make them scarce.

My mother told me that when my grandfather first purchased a hay baler, she went to grab a bale and a snake got itself baled up with the hay.
