Other than butter what do you spread on Crumpets?

Usually just butter, but sometimes with Marmite or strawberry jam too.

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone here know the best way to store crumpets / pikelets once the packet has been opened?

I like them but as they are sold in packs of six or eight. I don't want one (or two!) every day, but once opened those left seem to go mouldy very quickly.

I'm assuming these are the things that our family always called "pikelets", which I think is a Nottinghamshire dialect name for them.
