How come every generational struggle is the same?

Well yes but it's also inherintly true things are getting easier so each new generation before it is weaker and spoiled. For me I'd say oh, at that age we'd be running around outside..my dad might say he had a job delivering newspapers at that age..my grandfather might say he was working in a coal mine. This generation seems to be especially lazy and weak though, so much so that they think it might be the first generation to not outlive their parents which is pretty scary.

I disagree. I showed my kids respect as they grew and earned it by sacrificing for them. We never had a generation gap or a rebellion as such. Sure they made mistakes and so did I. But when the chips fell, I was there to pick them up and they always knew it.
You are however correct. Parenting has to be selfless, or dont bother. You will FUBAR your kids otherwise.

Because life gets easier and easier in cycles, successive generations get weaker and weaker. Hard times make hard men, hard men make soft times, soft times make soft men, soft men make hard times. Rinse and repeat.

Not self centered but more to do with a maturation and life cycle process. The elders have more life experience and it’s been proven that the human brain is not fully developed until after 24 years of age. Of course, this is just one of many reasons:)

And every generation thinks the next one will end the world.
