Do you trust people?

I don't as I have trust issues.

I am a cautious and alert person because I have had trust violated, damaged, and destroyed so many times over. But yes I still do trust people...only so much and so far if I don't know them very well and there are ones I do know that I trust more than others. My wife is the only person on this entire planet that I trust 100%. I am very skeptical of strangers though...if they want my trust they have to earn it and prove themselves to be trustworthy (and that isn't easy, it takes time and effort).

@SW-User I used to be an openly trusting person, in fact too trusting. I trusted people and human nature too much, too easily, and too often...and I got burned plenty. Now, I give people the benefit of the doubt but my guard is always up (in the very least for a very long time).

You sound like me. That's why I'm super cautious and careful on here and in real life. My parents favored my siblings over me which is sad. So I made my own family and they are my pride and joy just like your wife is to you.@indyjoe

@SW-User I can relate...I was my parent's only biological child (severe complications prevented my mom from having any more) and they adopted another boy. He became their "golden child" the child they could never have and I was kind of pushed to the side. Everything was all about him even up until the day they died. He is extremely self-centered and can be very narcistic, and I am just a 'second class citizen' to him (we have never had a relationship of any kind). Even when I got married (both times) my wife became the "daughter" they wanted but could never have and they favored her over me. My first wife ate that up, but my wife now saw what was going on and resented it. I tried to create and maintain some kind of relationship with them through the years but it was always mediocre at best. Now through her family I have the family that I never had..."parents" and a "sister"....and they always make me feel welcomed and loved.
