Lost a huge sale/bid.. embarrassed/sad :(..advice?

Y’all.. I just worked for 3 weeks and hundreds of dollars trying to put together design samples for a huge Fortune 500 company.. I hired photographers, went all out to put together EXACTLY what they’re were asking for..they specifically asked us not to stray from their very very (125 page long list of guidelines and rules but to be creative).. I followed it to a T...I know the decision maker through social connection and I was so sure I would get it.. well I found out this morning I didn’t get get it.. my feedback was that I didnt use enough creative elements .. aka I shouldn’t of stuck to the guidelines so closely.. it was also mentioned the same person who got picked was the person they’ve used a couple years in a row... I’m kind of embarrassed and am so worried about seeing this person again at our social gatherings.. and of course so devastated that I didn’t get it.. anyone have any similar experiences, words of wisdom? Ever lost a huge sale or customer and just.. ya felt so defeated?
